Ebay Sets Up Jobs and Project in Utah
December 9, 2009
San Jose – California-based online auction website Ebay plans to create 450 more jobs at its new project base in Draper, Utah. The company said the plan would include a new $334 million fund for its operations, customer support, and data center.
The new job is expected to boost more than the 1,000 employees already employed in the company’s customer service facility since 1999.
Ebay is one of several California companies that re-located in other states due to the effects of recession and the promise of tax incentives that some states give to companies who bring job and investment to them.
In October, another company based in Irvine had also set up operations in Utah, promising more than 1,000 jobs and building a 200,000-square-foot facility in the state.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, California has a higher unemployment rate at 12.3% than Utah, which has only 6.2%.
